Chennai, Feb 4 (UNI) MRF Tyres told the Madras High Court today that an official announcement on lifting the nearly two-month-long lock out of its tyre manufacturing factory at Tiruvottriyur would be announced by February 6.

When the case came up for hearing, the company management made an oral submission to this effect before Justice Paul Vasantha Kumar.

After recording it, the Judge adjourned the case to February 12 for further hearing.

The submission in the court followed an assurance given by MRF Chairman and Managing Director K M Mammen to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi yesterday evening that the lock out would be lifted soon.

The management had declared lock out on December 3 last year following labour unrest as employees protested the management's decision to do away with the Chairman's Awards.

The issue had rocked the state Assembly and Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy had on January 30 warned the government would not hesitate to take over the factory if the lock out was not lifted within a week, respecting the sentiments raised by the members in the House.

The members had also demanded immediate reinstatement of 28 employees who were suspended and revocation of dismissal of two union leaders.
