New Delhi, Feb 3: Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, party colleague Sachin Pilot and National Conference (NC) chief Omar Abdullah have left here for Japan as members of a delegation of Indian parliamentarians, sources said today.
While the NC president and others left here for Tokyo today, Mr Gandhi was already in Japan, they added. The sources said the other members of the delegation were Madhu Goud and Prema Cariappa. A press release by the NC earlier said that Mr Abdullah was leading the delegation on a two-week Japan visit, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to promote business relations between New Delhi and Tokyo.
During the visit, the delegation will interact with Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, Commerce and Industries Ministers besides the former premier and other political leaders.
It would also meet captains of various industries, economists and prominent multi-national industrial houses in Japan.
The members of the delegation will visit the state-of-the-art modern facilities of different world-renowned Japanese companies.
The visit of the Indian parliamentarians was aimed at improving the Indo-Japanese economic ties besides strengthening relations in the fields of trade, commerce and technology transfer, the NC said.
