Collector to depose in dacoity case on Feb 7
Mumbai, Feb 3 (UNI) City Collector I S Kundan will depose before sessions court on February 7 in connection with a case involving planning to loot a leading jewellery shop in the Metropolis last year.
Ms Kundan had given sanction to prosecute the three accused in the case under the Arms Act. She will be examined for her sanction by Ad hoc Additional Sessions Judge B D Khatavkar.
The accused were allegedly preparing to loot the Tribhuwandas Bhimji Jewellery shop on February 6, 2007.
Police had seized a country made bomb, one country made pistol, two live cartridges and one chopper from their possession.
Defence advocate Rajendra Javanjal said that the accused were arrested by the city police under section 399 (preparation to commit dacoity), 402 (assembling for committing a dacoity), r/w 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and r/w 5 and 7 of the Arms Act.
Police had filed a chargesheet against the accused on May 4, 2007 without taking sanction from authorities to prosecute the accused, Mr Javanjal added.
