Surajkund, Feb 3 (UNI) Students of schools of Delhi, Faridabad and NCR region participated in a number of activities and competitions on the third day of the 15-day Surajkund Crafts Mela.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesman of the Haryana Tourism Department said that on the first day of the competition about eight schools participated and 28 students enrolled for the face painting competition. He said that such competitions would be held till February 14. The winners were given first, second and third prizes by Mela Administrator, Mr J S Ahlawat.
He said that this year Chandigarh College of Arts had designed rickshaws decorated with caricatures and cartoons for joy rides for the children. He further informed that five such rickshaws decorated in fascinating style are plying on the road leading from 'Vishnupur Gate', the theme Gate renovated by the State of West Bengal to the 'Shekhawati Gate', the gate built by Rajasthan government.
He said that a record crowds visited the mela and visitors were seen dancing to the tunes of bancharis, a traditional dance troupe of Haryana. He said that the SAARC cluster provided a matchless buying experience for the people.
The spokesman said that the Natyashala, a platform for evening cultural programme saw a scintillating performance of Rhythm Scape by Dr Bikram Ghosh, a known personality from West Bengal.
