London, Feb3 : Surfing might be scary for many people, but a Peruvian cat named Nicolasa balances itself on a surfboard as wonderfully as a professional.
The cat's owner Domingo Pianezzi, a resident of Lima, says that his cat enjoys surfing as much as she enjoys catching mice.
He came to know about Nicolasa's hidden skill during a visit to Lima's San Bartolo beach, when the cat immediately leapt on board.
Nicolasa proved wrong the popular belief that cats fear water because she seemed quite happy on the open waves, Pianezzi said. Some people believe that Nicolasa may soon turn into a professional, reports the Telegraph.
Witnesses to Nicolasa's skilfulness say that her surfing technique is excellent, "hanging ten" with all claws hooked round the edge of the board.
However, an alternative theory suggests that the feline surfer's unique skill may be due to the fact that it the only dry place she finds after going out in the water is on top of the surfboard, and thus, it keeps firmly stuck to the board owing to its fear.
