Two HM ultras surrender say police, Army claims they were arrested
Srinagar, Feb 2 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police today said two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants surrendered after a brief encounter with security forces whereas the Army claimed they were arrested in south Kashmir.
A police spokesman said two HM militants Nika Mir and Showkat alias Mustafa turned in before security forces after a brief encounter at village Wachi in Pulwama district of South Kashmir.
He said there was no report of any casualty in the brief exchange of fire.
However, a defence ministry spokesman said 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) apprehended 2 HM militants during a search operation carried out on specific information at Wachi.
He said two AK-56 rifles, four magazines and one grenade were recovered from the possession of militants who were later handed over to police.
