Brisbane, Feb 2 (UNI) Dashing middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh today said Team India will have to focus on the upcoming Commonwealth Bank tri-series, putting behind the Twenty20 loss at the hands of Australia.
''We need to focus on the first game. Our batsmen need to start well and get used to the wicket,'' Yuvraj was quoted as saying by Cricinfo.com.
India had a poor outing in the one-off Twenty20 match at Melbourne yesterday as the hosts registered a thumping nine-wicket victory.
''The important thing to keep in mind is how fast they can mentally prepare then they'll be in a position to give a good performance.
''They'll grow through this tough experience. We are a hard working young team with a lot aggression,'' he said.
India will be without former captains Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid in the ODI series as the selectors have opted for young talent.
The south-paw, while admitting that the absence of the two seniors was a huge loss, said it is a good opportunity for the youngsters and this is possibly the best one-day side they have at the moment.
''This is the best one-day outfit. And if you look at most of the team, it is the same that won the Twenty20 World Cup,'' he said.
Yuvraj warned that apart from the hosts, India will also face stiff competition from Sri Lanka.
''It's not only about Australia. We need to also keep in mind Sri Lanka,'' he said adding the Indians will have to be at the top of their game to counter the challenge.
Yuvraj, who is down with a hamstring injury, will sit out the opening game against Australia here tomorrow.
