Roads blocked to protest arrest of women
Imphal, Feb 2: Hundreds of people at Mayang Langjing in Imphal West today blocked the main roads demanding immediate release of eight women, who were arrested for protesting against the Republic Day celebrations.

said
the
women
were
arrested
for
protesting
against
the
Republic
Day
celebrations.
He
also
said
the
women
were
not
aware
for
what
they
were
protesting.
On
interrogation
the
arrested
disclosed
they
were
called
out
from
their
houses
by
some
unidentified
persons
and
made
to
pose
in
front
of
cameras,
the
SP
said.
''It is quite clear that these women were victimised by some anti-nationals for their own interest,'' the SP said.
Earlier, the militant groups of the North Eastern region had given a call to boycott the Republic day celebrations.
