No cell phone inside polling station : EC
Kohima, Feb 02 (UNI) The Election Commission of India has banned use of cellular phones inside polling stations.
Official sources said here today that the Election Commission had directed that election agents of the candidates would not be allowed to carry cellular phones inside the polling stations and likewise, electorate should also not be allowed to carry mobiles insides the polling stations.
The EC directive also said only Presiding Officers and the Commission's observers, sector officers, micro-static observers or other officers, specially authorised by the Returning Officer, could carry a cell inside a polling station for emergency official use only.
It further directed that polling agents would not be allowed to leave the polling stations or substituted by their relieving agents after 1500 hours.
