Need to give thrust to education : Kidwai
Chandigarh, Feb 2 (UNI) Haryana Governor A R Kidwai today stressed the need for giving thrust to education for the progress and prosperity of society.
He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a Multipurpose Health Checkup Camp at Kapal Mochan in Yamunanagar district.
Dr Kidwai said the economic progress and growth of a nation could be judged by the progress of human resources and expressed the hope that by 2020 India was destined to become third economic power in the world .
The Governor lauded the role of progressive and hardworking people of Haryana and said they had earned name in the field of agriculture, industry and education.
He said that new avenues of employment had been opened in the state as vocational and technical education was being imparted to the students.
Earlier, the Governor inaugurated an exhibition and flagged off a mobile van to survey child labour in the district so that adequate steps were taken for their education and rehabilitation.
He distributed blankets and utensils among 500 poor and needy people of the society.
