Kerala-based company launches fruit and vegetable cleanser
Kochi, Feb 2 (UNI) The Kerala-based +Blue Sapphire Trading Corp.+ today announced the launch of 'Bio-Fresh', an organic cleanser to rid fruits and vegetables of pesticide residues, wax coating and other contaminants.
Announcing the product launch at a press conference here, company CMD K Siva Atmajan said they were targeting a sale of 300,000 bottles per month in Kerala alone.
The liquid cleanser, which was totally chemical-free, would be launched in the metros in the next two to three months, he announced.
It was priced at Rs 79 for a 200 ml. bottle. Only five ml of the solution was needed in one litre of water to clean the surface of fruits and vegetables of pesticide and insecticide residues, preservatives, wax, fungus, oil, dirt and grime, he said.
Company General Manager P M Jaya Kumar said the product had been tested and certified by CIFT, an institution under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
Stating that prolonged use of chemical pesticides wraught havoc with the immune system, Mr Atmajan said people were now forced to peel off the skin of the apple, its most nutritious part, due to wax coating.
Mr Atmajan said 'Bio-Fresh' was a combination of bio-surfactants, cyclo lipopeptides, extracts of microbes and citric acid. The product was being manufactured at Nilambur in Kerala and plans were afoot to start production in other states also.
