JKTDC to offers tour packages Sangam-2008 participants

Srinagar, Feb 2 (UNI) Byoyed by successful 2007 summer season, when a large number of tourists visited the valley, the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) has offered special tour packages to 500 people gathered at Bangalore from across the globe to participate in the SANGAM-2008.

A JKTDC official said continuing with the efforts to showcase the state at new forums and attract more and more tourists a group of 25 delegates from the state are participating in the SANGAM-2008, the summit for protection of environment and access to social justice.

The four-day mega event was being organised by United Nations Millennium Campaign and International Association for Human Values.

Union Ministry of Environment and Forest and National Legal Services Authority are extending technical support.

The JKTDC, JK Industries and Academy of Art, Culture and Languages are among the 500 participants from across the globe who are taking part in this grand event.

The participants include intellectuals, educationists, corporate and civil society activists.

He said JKTDC has extended special tour package to the participants to attract them to visit Jammu and Kashmir.

The Corporation has also set up stalls at the venue of the event which provides rich information about the people, places and history of the state.

He said adequate publicity material has been made available by the Corporation for the benefit of the participants and visitors.

A culture show by artists from the state, depicting the rich culture and traditional heritage was also presented on this occasion.
