International experts to probe into death of Chambal alligators
Etawah, Feb 2 : A team of four international experts have rrived here to investigate into the cause of death of several ndian alligators in the Chambal River.
According to official figures, at least 100 alligators have been ound dead in the past six weeks in the Chambal River in Etawah's hakar Nagar Tehsil.
"We can't comment on the reason why they are dying, but we are etting up the whole system which certainly will allow us to find ut more," said Paolo, an expert from the US.
A meeting between the experts and authorities was held to iagnose the cause of the alligator deaths. The experts also isited the site where the carcasses have been recovered and ollected water and other samples.
Brain Sozi, another foreign expert from South Africa said, "We ertainly have to look at the whole area."
The deaths came under scrutiny after a Non Government rganisation (NGO), the Society for Conservation of Nature, nformed the Forest Department about two dead alligators near the iver in December 2007.
