Infiltration bid foiled, 3 militants, 2 SPOs killed on LoC
Jammu, Feb 2 (UNI) Security forces foiled an infiltration bid and gunned down three militants on the Line of Control (LOC) in Krishna Ghati area of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district today, a Defence spokesman said.
Acting on a tip-off, 2/8 Gorkha Rifles and police intercepted a group of militants attempting to breach the LoC last night.''Three militants, including one who had crossed the barbed fence to receive the intruders, were killed by the Army,'' Lt Col S D Goswami said.
Three AK rifles were also recovered from the site of encounter, he said.
One jawan, identified as Bal Bahadur, was also wounded when he accidentally stepped on a mine while retrieving the bodies and recoveries.
The search operation was still on, the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, sources informed that two Special Police Officers (SPOs) were also killed in the same area while conducting an independent operation against a infiltration bid.
