Four containers containing flesh seized
Barwani, MP, Feb 2 (UNI) Four containers containing flesh have been seized and their drivers arrested from this district, police said today.
''On the basis of information received by some organisations, three containers were seized from Sendhwa area and one from Theekri area last night,'' Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Rajeev Mishra said.
The containers, bearing sign 'buffalo meat', were conveying flesh from New Delhi to Mumbai. Flesh samples had been sent to Gandhinagar in Gujarat for analysis. It was suspected that the flesh was beef.
Meanwhile, Gaurasksha Sangathan head Sohan Vishwakarma and representatives of other Hindu organisations alleged that transport employees at Balsumund chek post allowed these containers to go for a bribe. These organisations demanded ending of this arrangement.
Mr Vishwakarma said 54 containers containing flesh meant for export had been nabbed in Shajapur, Dhar and Sanver recently.
Analysis of samples of flesh seized in Dhar proved that it was beef.
Meanwhile, official sources said four drivers had been taken into police remand. Besides, investigation had begun on bribe-related allegations.
