Mumbai, Feb 2 (UNI) Visitors at the Kala Ghoda festival were in for a pleasant surprise as four Revo electric cars, painted by eminent artists, were displayed today.
Painters Pavitra Rajaram, Bose Krishnamachari, Hafeez Contractor and Ratan Batliboi each got a Reva to paint with environment as the theme. Each came up with a colourful representation that ranged from a black sun (Ratan Batliboi), multi-coloured, brick-like painting (Hafeez Contractor) and grafitti (Pavitra Rajaram).
''My kids inspired me for my work, it was great fun,'' Ms Rajaram said.
''Though I did not physically paint my Revo, we avoided automotive paints as they are not environment friendly but used vegetable paints instead. Our purpose was not to preach to the converted, and we think its important to convey the environment message now,'' Mr Batliboi informed.
The cars will be auctioned between February 2 to 9 by the Earth Care Initiative - a joint project between Jindal Steel Works (JSW) and the Reva Car company to raise awareness on environmental issues during the 10-day festival.
''This project is to basically create awareness about environment with 'Utility with Art' as a theme,'' added Ms Sangita, who had initiated the Earth Care Initiative project.
