Concor grants fresh order to GOC
Tiruchirapalli, Feb 2 (UNI) The Golden Rock railway workshop (GOC) here has completed the execution of an order to despatch 990 bogey low container (BLC) wagons for state owned Container Corporation of India (CONCOR).
Speaking after flagging off the last rake comprising 45 BLC wagons from the GOC bay here today, Chief Mechanical Engineer Southern Railway V Carmelus told newspersons, the order worth 201 crore placed in 2005-06, was completed today.
Concor has placed fresh orders worth Rs 286 crore for 1125 BLC wagons.
He said the order received by GOC was under process and the first rake would be ready for despatch by the first week of March this year. He was hopeful that the total orders for low flat 100 kmph speed capability wagons would be completed in the next two years.
He said two other workshops at Amristar and Samastipur had also been selected by the railway board to produce SS type wagons.
He said the prototype model of the wagon would be ready early next month.
The wagons were capable of higher load capability of 61 tonnes as against the conventional BOXN wagons of 55 tonnes capacity.
He said GOC has also been entrusted with the task of imparting periodic overhauling (POH) of broad gauge BOXN wagons. GOC would be handling this assignment for the first time. Out of 111 wagons sent for POH, 26 had already been completed, he added.
