Aphrodisiacs worth Rs 70 lakh seized
Thane, Feb 2, (UNI) Officials of the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) have seized 'aphrodisiacs' worth Rs 70 lakh from a unit in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi.
Addressing a press conference here yesterday, officials said the seized material was being exported to Syria and some of the African countries under the brand name 'Vegah Brands', registered with Hab Pharmaceuticals in Vasai.
The officials collected several samples of drugs which contained Celdenafil Citrate with 'aphrodisiacs' properties.
The drugs were being manufactured under fake export codes belonging to a firm in Palghar. Investigations revealed that Usha Remedies manufactured the loose tablets of Celdenafil Citrate and used to send it to Bhiwandi for packaging, officials said.
Seven persons have been booked so far in this connection, the officials added.
