171 nominations filed in three days in Tripura

Agartala, Feb 2 (UNI) Altogether 171 candidiates, including those from the Left Front, have filed their nominations during the past three days for the Tripura Assembly elections.

According to official report, 69 nominations were filed for 22 constituencies for the 60-member House yesterday and Left Front-backed 74 candidates tendered the nominations for 60 seats.

Four CPI(M) candidates from Belonia sub-division, including Finance Minister Badal Choudhury, five CPI(M) candidates from Dharmanagar sub-division and two candidates, including state Forest Minister Jitendra Choudhury, had submitted nominations in Sabroom on January 31.

Earlier, as many as 17 aspirants, including Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and Industries Minister Tapan Chakraborty, had filed their nominations, while only 97 Opposition candidates, from five different parties, have filed the nominations so far.
