New Delhi, Feb 1, 2008 : Affected by rising fuel prices, the aviation industry is planning to introduce a 'differential fuel surcharge" based on VAT rates in each state to partially make up for the losses suffered.

The idea was mooted during an all-India civil aviation meet attended by ministers and senior officials from various states. Airlines need to cover the cost of aviation turbine fuel or ATF in order to survive.
