Two labourers buried alive in abandoned well
Fatehabad, Feb 1 (UNI) Two labourers working in an abandoned well were buried alive at Ruriwali village near Ratia in this district today.
While the dead body of one has been retrieved from under the debris of the well, efforts are being made by the rescue team to find the other.
However, the authorities, which had rushed to the village with cranes and earthmovers, said the chances of survival ofthe second labourer was very remote.
According to sources, the owner of the well, Moninder Singh, had hired five labourers to remove bricks from the 80 feet deep well which was lying abondoned in his field for many years.
While three of the labourers were standing outside, Jagir Singh (22) and Ranjit Singh (19) were removing bricks from the well. They had removed bricks till 60 feet when the upper portion of the well caved in, burying them under the debris.
