SHO suspended for beating BJP activist
Sangrur, Feb 1 (UNI) An SHO was today suspended after BJP activists blocked the traffic on the state highway here protesting against his alleged manhandling of a party activist last night under the influence of alcohol.
SSP Arun Pal Singh today suspended SHO Khanauri, Rulda Singh after probe official SP (Detective) B S Virk recommended action against him over the complaint made by a local trader.
According to the complainant iron trader and BJP activist Ashok Kumar, he had gone to his shop last night for some work when the SHO, who was sozzled, abused and severely beat him up without any provocation.
After the incident, Mr Kumar rang up the local BJP leaders and early this morning party's BJP district president Jitender Kalra, along with about 200 party supporters, blocked the traffic at the main Sangrur- -Delhi highway near Khanauri to press for the action against the guilty SHO.
In response to the demand, the SP deputed SS (D) Mr Virk as the inquiry officer, who after the preliminary probe recommended the SHO's suspension.
