Bhopal, Feb 1 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi today described charges levelled by Opposition Leader Jamuna Devi regarding purchase of medicine by the government false information.
In a statement issued here today, Mr Vishnoi said Ms Devi was frustrated after not getting the post of the Governor. Besides, she was afraid of powerful Congress leaders Suresh Pachouri, Digvijay Singh, Jyotiraditya Scindia.
''The Opposition Leader is levelling baseless allegations against the government to protect her post which was not appropriate in view of her age, experience and post,'' he said.
Mr Vishnoi said the charge that the Madhya Pradesh Small-Scale Industries Corporation had purchased 10 tablets of Burfen 400 mg for Rs 30.61 against its cost of Rs six was baseless.
Likewise, Ms Devi has alleged that 10 tablets of 200 mg Brufen had been purchased for Rs 17.75. However, the department had purchased 100 tablets at this price.
He pointed out that the right to purchase medicine and making payment under the new Drug Policy was with the Director (Drug Procurement) and not the Health Commissioner.
Mr Vishnoi said the notesheet distributed by the Opposition Leader was opposite to the present drug policy. The government was working as per the drug policy approved by the state cabinet.
