Non-bailable warrants issued against two R R soldiers in Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb 1 (UNI) Taking a serious notice of police report that Army was not cooperating in the alleged custodial death inquiry, a local court here has issued non-bailable warrants against two Rashtriya Rifle(RR) personnel.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Srinagar, issued the warrants against two soldiers of 7 RR Vikram Singh and E K Balbeer Singh allegedly involved in the arrest and subsequent disappearance of Mohammad Hussain Ashraf, a resident of Pantha Chowk.
The court later fixed February 15 as next date of hearing and directed police to present the accused in the court.
The CJM issued the warrants on a petition filed by one Mohammad Yousuf alleging that his son Hussain was taken to unknown camp by RR on May 24,2003 in a gypsy without number plate in presence of local residents.
He said despite visiting Army camp, they could not find Hussain.
Later, a case was registered in police station of Pantha chowk.
Similarly a petition was filed in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court after police failed to trace him.
The High Court in its order directed the police to speed up the investigation and trace Hussain's whereabouts.
The court also directed police to present all records, including investigation report to CJM, Srinagar.
However, a police officer informed the CJM that RR was not cooperating with the investigation.
