MP selected for National Tourism Award
Bhopal, Feb 1 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh has been selected for National Tourism Award 2007-08 in the category of 'Best Tourism Performing State/UT' by the Centre.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed happiness for selection of Madhya Pradesh as Best Tourism Performing State in the country.
Minister of State for Tourism Tukoji Rao Puar and Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Dhruv Narain Singh also expressed pleasure over the achievement, an official release said here today.
Several important steps and decisions had been taken during the past couple years for developing tourism. The MPSTDC has been revamped and every single unit was making profit. Complete revamp and modernisation of systems and operational procedures was underway.
Efforts to boost tourism has also been recognised in the recent past by renowned organisations such as the Indian Association of Tour Operators, the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India and the South Asian Travel Tourism Exchange.
Six properties of the MPSTDC had received three-star classification, while four properties got ISO certification.
Besides, launch of projects like rail coach restaurant, cruises and sight seeing buses were widely appreciated, the release added.
