Mixed trend observed in metal prices

Mumbai, Feb 1 (UNI) A mixed trend was observed in metal prices in Kolkata and Delhi today, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange (BME) said.

In the ferrous metal category, copper heavy and brass utensils rose by Rs 100 per quintal each, on reduced stock supply.

Copper utensils and brass cuttings were down by Rs 100 per quintal each, due to poor buying support.

However, aluminium utensils remained unchanged on moderate demand.

In the non-ferrous metal category, zinc slab and lead ingot rose by Rs 300 per quintal each, on lesser stock supply. Copper wire bar also shot up by Rs 200 per quintal.

However, tin slab eased by Re 1 per kg amid poor buying support, while nickel cathode improved by Rs 15 per kg on fresh demand.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 33,800, copper utensils - Rs 31,500, brass utensils - Rs 24,900, brass cuttings - Rs 25,500 and aluminium utensils - Rs 10,500 per kg.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 37,100, aluminium ingots - Rs 12,100, zinc slab - Rs 12,600, lead ingots - Rs 11,800, tin slab - Rs 788 and nickel cathode - Rs 1,395 per kg.
