HMIL sales up at 41.4pc with 37,701 units

said
its
sales
for
January
2008
has
grown
41.4
per
cent
at
37,701
units
as
against
26,661
units
a
year
ago.
The
company
in
a
statement
said
its
domestic
sales
grew
by
39.1
per
cent
to
24,301
units,
while
exports
increased
45.6
per
cent
to
13,400
vehicles.
Since the launch of i10 in the month of October 2007, the sale of the vehicle has crossed 25,000 units, it added. ''We are also doubling the production capacity to 6,00,000 units per annum by inaugurating the second plant tomorrow in Chennai, which will have a capacity of 3,00,000 units per annum, to cater to the demand in the country and overseas,'' HMIL Managing Director H S Lheem said.
The segment-wise sales for the A1 segment stood at 33,434 units; A2 segment at 4,236 units; A3 segment at one unit; A4 segment at 25 units; and SUV segment at five units.
