Chandigarh, Feb 1 (UNI) The Haryana Government is spending an amount of Rs 70 crore on the repair work of school buildings for promoting education in the state.
Besides, an amount of Rs 400 crore is also being spent every year on the construction of new rooms in schools under the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan.
While giving this information here today, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir Singh said that various developmental works were being carried out for the all-round development of the state. He informed that an amount of Rs 200 crore was being spent every year on the repair and maintenance work in the state under the Haryana Rural Development Fund (HRDF) Scheme.
Mr Dharambir Singh said that during the current financial year, concrete streets would be constructed at a cost of Rs 50 lakh in each village having more than 50 per cent Scheduled Castes population. Besides, the construction work of 151 sports stadia with a cost of Rs 50 lakh each was in progress at village level.
A provision of Rs 50,000 each for the repair of 400 Chaupals of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes had been made, he added.
He said that a provision of more than Rs 400 crore had been made for developing 91 villages as model villages, out of which an amount Rs 175 crore had been spent so far.
He said that those villages whose fixed deposit was more than Rs 50 lakh would be developed on priority basis. About 100 more villages would soon be declared as Model villages, he added.
Mr Dharambir said that an amount of Rs 5 crore was spent on the repair of veterinary hospitals during the year 2005-06 while Rs 10 crore during the year 2007-08. He said that during the current financial year Government had planned to spent an amount of Rs 29.52crore to rebuild those institutions which were not in position to be repaired.
He said that 100-100 square yard plots were being given by the Government free of cost to the Scheduled Castes families and those living below poverty line and all basic facilities would be provided in these plots. Besides 11,000 safai karamcharis were also being recruited on monthly salary of Rs 3510 in the villages of the state.
