Dharmani to lead Punjab in Hazare trophy

Mohali, Feb 1 (UNI) Veteran Pankaj Dharmani will lead the Punjab cricket team in the forthcoming inter-state one day league matches for the Vijay Hazare trophy commencing on February 26.

This decision was taken at the Senior Selection Committee of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) which met today under the chairmanship of Chaman Lal Malhotra at the PCA Cricket Stadium here.

Other selectors present were national Bhupinder Singh Sr, Dronacharya D P Azad, Umesh Kumar, Vinod Sharma and Gursharan Singh, coach of the team.

Team India's ODI vice captain Yuvraj Singh and spinner Harbhajan Singh were not considered for selection as they are doing duty with the national squad in Australia.

PCA Secretary MP Pandove said that the 20 probables selected for the tournament will undergo a coaching-cum-practice camp from February 6 to 16 at the PCA Stadium, before the selection of the final team. The team will then proceed to Delhi to play practice matches against Railways before their participation in the tournament.

Mr Pandove further informed that Pankaj Dharmani will be the skipper of the team.

Probables: Karan Goel, Ravi Inder, Sunny Sohal, Pankaj Dharmani, Ravneet Ricky, Uday Kaul, Sumit Sharma, Mayank Siddanah, Gurkirat, Mandeep Singh, Manpreet Gony, VRV Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Bharat Lomba, Ankur Kakkar, Sarabjit Ladda, Ankur Jund, Rahul Venky, Gaurav Marwaha and Ishan Dogra.
