Crores of rupees of 'ill gotten weakth' unearthed by Lokayukta
Bangalore, Feb 1(UNI) Lokayukta officials have unearthed crore of rupees of 'ill gotten wealth' after they raided various places belonging to ten officials yesterday.
Giving out the details of the seized property and valuables, Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde said the Superintendent of police of Directorate of civil rights enforcement B P Haraje was the biggest catch who had amassed 7.6 crore worth of wealth including land, gold, silver, fixed deposits and houses. The officers approximate income from the salaries was only Rs 45 lakh.
"This is only a rough estimation and we are still questioning the officials on the source of the wealth which was disproportionate to their known income," he said.
The officials had amassed wealth that included agricultural land, appartments, houses, gold, silver, vehicles and stashed money in fixed deposits and made property in benami names, he said.
In other cases, it was found that B G Wandakar, DySP in Belgaum had property more than 2.5 crore in his name despite drawing a salary of just Rs 29 lakh in his service so far.
The other officials on whose offices and homes raids was conducted yesterday were S B Kolar, Technical Director of Industries and Commerce Department, Bangalore; Subramanya, Assistant Manager, KSSIDC; Dr Rajashekar, DFO, Bellary; D C Rajappa, Addnl. SP Bellary; Dr Babu Rao Mudibi, Director of Social Welfare, H K Revanna, CPI, Chitradurga; Murugaiah, ARTO, Bangalore and Venkatesh Malligeri, MV Inspector, Koppal.
