The picture of the Christ, accompanied by an extract from the Lord's Prayer, along with three prominent churches, shown in the background of the calendar has irked the Christians of the Northeast.
''The Council has taken a serious note of this aberration and sending of a wrong message as if Port Wine is identified with the Christian faith. It seems from reading the verses from the Bible that calendar vindicates consumption of wine,'' NEICC secretary Pastor NS Phawa said.
He said the Roman Catholic Church, Presbyterian Church and All Saints Cathedral had questioned the 'unauthorised incorporation' of the three church buildings in the calendar.
The NEICC asked the advertiser to immediately stop the distribution of the calendar in the market and demanded an unqualified apology from the makers.
