Centre asks NE states to implement ICDS mission mode

Agartala, Feb 01 (UNI) The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development has asked the North East states to implement the Integrated Child Development Services Scheme (ICDS) under mission mode.

Referring to the ministry's communication, the Tripura social welfare department officials said here today that it has been decided to set up more Anganwadis, proper nutrition to malnourished children and women.

The Centre has also asked the states to set up special monitoring cells and provide an immediate feedback so that steps could be taken for the effective implementation of the ICDS.

The officials have also pointed out that the ministry had taken initiative for the development of children and women.

A Bill to check the sexual harassment at the workplace would be brought and steps were being taken to provide skill upgradation training to women for self-employment in partnership with industrial association.

Besides, the Centre has proposed an integrated child protection scheme to be launched to monitor programme and policies related with the children at the grass root level, they added.
