New Delhi, Feb 1 (UNI) Having announced Sankalp Yatra by its prime ministerial candidate L K Advani, the BJP today said it would deploy two dozen Sankap Raths to criss-cross the country in over 300 Lok Sabha constituencies during 2008 to reach out to the people to highlight the failures of the UPA Government ahead of the Yatra.
The Sankalp Yatra, announced in the two-day BJP National Council meeting held earlier this week, will be led by Mr Advani and party president Rajnath Singh will assist him, BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told newspersons after flagging off the first of the Raths named 'Sankalp Sandesh Vahan'.
The totally equipped Rath will criss-cross nooks and corners of Uttar Pradesh, exhibiting the films and street corner dramas by artists and party sympathisers highlighting the UPA failures.
Terrorists across the country, he said, had ripped the country with bomb blasts at will and the Government had not even taken a decision on the mercy petition of condemned prisoner Mohammad Afzal, convicted by the Supreme Copurt in the Parliament attack case. The tall claims of the UPA regarding the tall growth in the GDP meant nothing but 'Garibi, Dehshadgardi and Pareshani(poverty, terror and trouble)' and the life for the common man had only become worse.
He said the aim of the Sankalp Raths would be to create conducive climate among the people educating them about the political chaos, scandals, corruption, maladministration, farmers' suicides through drama, songs and other modes of communication.
The BJP has completed a film which highlighted how the Congress and UPA had failed the common man after having ascended to power promising to help the 'Aam Admi'.
All these efforts would help draw crowds when the rallies addressed by Advani, Rajnath and other leaders would take place, he said.
