BJP to agitate against BPS, LRS schemes in AP
Hyderabad, Feb 1 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh will spearhead a stir against ''fleecing'' of the people by the Congress government through Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) and Layout Regulation Scheme.
Addressing a press conference here, BJP Secretary N Indirasena Reddy claimed that the government's only aim was to collect Rs 10,000 crore by way of penalty. The party would mobilise people in a big way to exert pressure on the government to withdraw the schemes, he added.
It was unfortunate that the state government was penalising the people for unauthorised construction by builders, he said, adding that blacklisting of erring builders alone would not be sufficient.
The government should fix responsibility on the builders and collect the penalty from them instead of the occupants.
