Madanapalli, Jan 31:Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today demanded the Union and Andhra Pradesh Government to waive farmers loans upto Rs 50,000 in the State.
Addressing a farmers convention here as part of its 'Porubata' programme, BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu demanded the Government to provide Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all crops as the farmers were affected due to reduced prices offered for their produces.
Mr Naidu said the Janata Dal (S)-BJP combine during its tenure waived Rs 50,000 as loan for farmers and extended the Government's support for their products.
He alleged that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at Centre and the State Government neglected the farmers and did not sanction money from the Prime Minister's relief fund to the families of the farmers, who committed suicide, as promised by the Chief Minister Y S Rajashekara Reddy.
The Telugu Desam Party(TDP) also during its tenure failed to protect the farmers, he added.
Mr Naidu alleged that the Centre was paying Rs 1,600 per quintal for import of paddy, but was increasing the price of wheet.
The BJP leader said people will witness 'Rythu Rajyam', if his party captures power in the State. The workers were migrating because of the inept performance of the Centre and State Government, he added.
