Yamunanagar, Feb 1 (UNI) The Yamunanagar District Administration today directed all the telecom service providers in the district to obtain concrete, authentic residential proof, photographs of the customers while issuing new connections to the public and maintain proper record in this regard.
District Magistrate Nitin Kumar Yadav in his order directed the service providers to send their monthly report in this regard to the Superintendent of Police so as to enable the police to carry out the verification of character and antecedents of such persons.
"Various service provider companies in the District are issuing mobile connections to some of the people including foreign nationals without obtaining any concrete, authentic residential proof, photograph and without proper verification of the customers, which results into commission of serious criminal offences," the District Magistrate said.
Mr Nitin Yadav also ordered that all the shop owners dealing with sale, purchase and repair of old mobile phones shall keep the record of such transaction, repair made by them along with verified details of the sellers and purchasers of the old phone in the shape of an affidavit to be given by the seller, purchaser. The affidavit should clearly state the name, address of the seller, purchaser and IMEI number of mobile set. The details of such transaction be sent to police so that the same may be scrutinised on regular basis.
He also said that the STD booths owners, operators shall maintain verified record of all the calls and call makers specially in respect of STD and international calls in a register in the jurisdiction of Yamunanagar District and inform the local police, if any person coming to them for using the telephone facility fails to produce the valid and solid proof of his identity.
