AIADMK stage demo on TN fishermen's woes
Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Feb 1 (UNI) About 1,000 volunteers of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) staged a demonstration to condemn the callous attitude of the Centre and the State government towards the sufferings of fishermen at Verkode near here today.
The agitators, led by party Fishermen Wing secretary K K Kalaimani, in the presence former minister and AIADMK leader Jenifer Chandran, raised slogans against the Central and Tamil Nadu governments for their failure to protect the interests of the state's fishermen.
They demanded that the Union Government take up the issue of planting Sea Mines in the stretch between Katchatheevu and Delft Islands by the Sri Lankan Navy, which poses a threat to the fishermen and their livelihood and ensure that the mines were removed immediately.
