Historian discovers copper plate inscription
Shimoga, Jan 31 (UNI) Historian S G Samak has discovered an unpublished copper plate inscription, belonging to Keladi dynasty of 17th century at Yedehalli village in the district.
Speaking to UNI here today Dr Sampak said the inscription on a copper plate, measuring 10 inch by 6.5 inch, had a total number of 33 lines, 16 lines in the front and 17 lines in the back.
The land grant inscription referred to Keladi ruler Veerabhadranayaka, son of Bhadrappanayaka and grand son of Venkatappanayaka.
It referred to the land grant in Haratalu Seeme given by Veerabhadranayaka to Siddhalinga Devaru a student of Uttaradi Devaru of Anandapura mutt.
Dr Sampak said this was the 51st inscription unearthed in this region.
