HC stays hearing into Awadhesh Rai murder case
Allahabad, Jan 31 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court has stayed the hearing into Awadesh Rai murder case, in which mafia don Mukhtar Ansari is the prime accused.
The order was passed by Justice B A Zaidi on a transfer application filed by Rakesh Srivastava alias Nyayik of Varanasi, also an accused in the case.
Staying further proceeding of Rai murder case, the HC issued a notice to Ajay Rai, the deceased's brother.
The court also directed the Uttar Pradesh government to file a counter affidavit in this case within four weeks.
In 1999, Rai was murdered in Varanasi.
An FIR was lodged at PS Chetganj, Varanasi, against Mukhtar Ansari, Rakesh Srivastava alias Nyayik, Kamlesh Singh, Bhima Singh, Abdul Kalam (carpenter) and one unknown person under section 147, 148, 149, 302 of IPC.
