Chandigarh, Jan 31 (UNI) Displaying her consistency Eetee Mehga of Gujarat marched into girls under-14 as well as under-16 finals of the AITA Championships Series being played at the Lake Sports Complex here.
Unseeded Haroon Kaur of Chandigarh is also holding the spotlight as she today shocked second seed Baljinder Kaur of Haryana in straight sets 6-0, 6-4 in the girls under-16 semi-final.
Ravnoor, who had earlier toppled fourth seed Ikttesh Chahal and eighth seed Jaspreet Kaur of Punjab, will now lock horns with giant-killer sixth seed Eetee Mehta in the final tomorrow. Eettee Mehta also recorded an upset win over third seed Harnoor Kaur Mann of Chandigarh in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 in the girls under-16 singles semi-final.
Eetee, who is seed second in the girls under-14 singles, will face top seed Likhita Shetty of Karnataka in the final. Hitting fluently, Likhita ended the winning run of eighth seed Rimpledeep Kaur of Punjab in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 in the semi-final encounter. Eetee ousted Delhi's Simran Sethi, seeded fourth, also in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
Living up to his reputation, top seed Navneer Kumar of Uttar Pradesh stormed into the boys under-16 final as he outplayed Naveen Shankar of Chandigarh 6-2, 6-3. However the second semi-final witnessed upset of second seed Maninder Singh of Haryana who was beaten by third Gurinder Singh of Punjab 6-3, 6-4.
Local lad and third seed Digvijay Singh Naruka will meet fourth seed Vilas Khate of National Tennis Academy in the boys under-14 final. Digvijay Naruka was extended to three sets by unseeded plucky Sunny Dahiya of Haryana before the CLTA trainee won by 6-4, 1-6, 6-2.
Vilash shocked second seed Kamal Kishore Maderana of Rajasthan 6-2, 6-1 in the second semi-final round.
