Chennai, Jan 31 (UNI) Belgium edged out India 3-2 to register a consolation victory in the fifth and the final Test match at the Astro Turf Stadium here today fighting back from a 0-1 and 1-2 deficit.
In a match marked by equal exchanges, India already having won the series yesterday, forced a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute through Birendra Lakra. However, Belgium equalised in the 27th minute through Thomas Briels.
Level 1-1 at half-time, the Indian forward fought back and foroed ahead 2-1 in the 54th minute through a brilliant deflection from the top of the D by Ajitesh Rai.
However, Belgium turned the tables levelling 2-2 in the 58th minute through a penalty corner hit by Jerome Deykeyser and led 3-2 off a field goal in the 59th minute by Ceric Charles.
The first Test ended in a 4-4 draw while India won the second, third and fourth tests.
