West Bengal pay homage to Mahatma
Barrackpore, Jan 30: The 60th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was observed in West Bengal today. Gandhi's grandson and Governor of the state Gopal Krishna Gandhi paid floral tributes at the Martyrs' Column at Gandhi Ghat on the eastern bank of the Ganges here in North 24 Parganas. A prayer meeting by people of all religions was held along with playing of Ramdhun on the occasion of the Martyrs' Day. West Bengal PWD minister Kshiti Goswami, along with other dignitaries, including Chief Secretary Amit Kiran Deb and Director General of Police Anup Bhusan Vohra, also placed wreaths to pay their homage to the Father of the Nation.
