Undertrial flees from police custody
Siliguri, Jan 30 (UNI) Two policemen were today suspended for negligence of duty after an under trial fled from their custody.
DSP, headquarters, Jalpaiguri, Ujjal Kumar Bhowmick said former BSF constable Shyamal Ghosh(32) of Chapra, Nadia district, was arrested from NJP station on November 1, 2007, under Narcotic Act for possessing Ganja. He was taken to a hospital for treatment from the jail under police escort along with ten other undertrials.
But Shyamal fled from the hospital's outpatient department.
Mr Bhowmick said after preliminary inquiry, the two policemen, an ASI and a constable of Kotwali police station were put under suspension for dereliction of duty.
