Seminar on RTI and Cooperative Committee Act concludes

Chandigarh, Jan 30 (UNI) The two-day seminar on 'Right to Information Act' and 'Cooperative Committee Act' organized by Harcofed concluded here today.

Giving his valedictory speech Mr Jowal said that Haryana Government had made necessary amendments on the basis of the recommendations made by the Vaidyanathan Committee.

The recommendations were made to enhance the democratic set up and to promote people's participation in the Cooperative Committees.

He said that about 35,000 Cooperative Committees were working to provide loans for house construction, marketing and consumer based facilities to more than 52 lakh people in the State. He further stated that around Rs 6,000 crores were distributed by the Cooperative Committees in the year 2006-07.

This year the projected amount is expected to reach Rs 7850 crores.

Talking about the RTI Act Mr Jowar suggested Harcofed to organize such seminars in the future to dispel the difficulties and confusion faced by the officials.

The Managing Director of Harcofed, Mr. Chandra Mohan assured that they were providing training and promoting such programs with total dedication. They will try their best to make people aware about the amendments made by the Committee.

The seminar was attended by various prominent personalities from the field of Cooperative Committees.
