Helpline for solving consumers' problems

Lucknow, Jan 30 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary P K Mishra has directed the Power Department Officials to reduce line losses, accelerate pace of power dues recovery along with increasing power generation.

He said that repairing of power generation plants machines should be undertaken for increasing generation.

Mr Mishra directed to install separate meters at the residence and camp offices of the Divisional Commissioners, DMs and other administrative officers for realising electricity bills.

He said that joint teams comprising JEs of power department and police inspectors should be formed to check power theft and FIR and other legal action should be taken against power defaulters.

He directed the Principal Secretary Urban Development to ensure payment of pending power bills of Jal Sansthan and Jal Nigam, adding that a helpline should be set up for power consumers in order to solve their power related problems quickly.

The Chief Secretary was reviewing performance of the Power Department here.

He asked to install power meters in rural areas, reduce line losses and repair sub-stations for improving power supply, besides replacing meters by new ones in order to spring equality in demand and supply of power.

The Managing Director U P Power Corporation, Mr Awanish Awasthi informed the Chief Secretary that efforts were being made to maintain cent percent accounting, billing of 43-sub-stations and solve consumer problems.

He said that effective steps had also been taken to check power pilferage by setting up meters at transformers level.

He assured that about 28,500 villages will be connected to power supply scheme and at least 14 hour uninterrupted power supply will be ensured.
