Gastroenteritis victims continue to pour into hospitals
Bangalore, Jan 30 (UNI) People, hit hard by gastroenteritis due to water contamination in Bharatinagar in Cantonment Area in the city, continued to pour into private and government hospitals with the total number of those affected rising to over 600 today.
While about 40 persons, including 12 children, had been admitted to hospitals others were treated as outpatients, Bruhut Bangalore Mahanagarapalike Chief Medical Officer L T Gayatri told UNI.
BBMP continued its door-to-door campaign in the area with medical supervisors visiting homes and appraising the occupants of measures to be taken in case they encounter health problems.
Health desks had been set up in hospitals where doses of ORS were given to the affected. In case of diarrhoea, patients were put on intravenous fluids. Posters had been also been put up, she said.
