New Delhi, Jan 30 (UNI) The Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) today demanded immediate removal of Rev Valson Thampu from the post of OSD at the St Stephen's College and also sought a probe into his ''mysterious'' Ph.D.
Addressing a news conference here, DUTA president Aditya Narayan Misra alleged that Mr Thampu was ''illegally'' occupying the chair of the OSD (Officer on Special Duty) at the college.
He said DUTA has chalked out an agitation programme at the St Stephen's College on Tuesday, and at the vice chancellor's office on Friday.
Mr Misra said an independent inquiry should be instituted by Delhi University into rev. Thampu's Ph.D in Theology obtained from Ahmedabad University.
''Mr Thampu's appointment as the OSD is illegal, arbitrary and wholly unjustified as it is the violation of Ordinance XVIII and XXIV,'' the DUTA president alleged.
He said the DUTA executive would also meet Delhi University vice chancellor Deepak Paintal, the Chairman of the Supreme Council and the St. Stephen's College Governing body besides Mr Thampu to resolve the ''unprecedented crisis'' in the institution.
