Chandigarh, Jan 30 (UNI) British Columbia today offered services to the Punjab government for the upgradation of technical skills through exchange programme in the sphere of primary, secondary and technical education, skill development, tele-medicine, bio-technology, nano-technology and information technology.
This offer was made by visiting British Columbia Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Minister Michael De Jong during his meeting with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here today.
Taking part in the deliberations, Mr Badal informed the delegations that people of Punjab shared a special bonding with British Columbia-one of the most prosperous and advanced provinces in Canada.
''Punjabis had a strong presence in Canada and it was a matter of great satisfaction to observe that people of Punjab had always contributed immensely towards the economic prosperity of the land of their adoption.'' The Chief Minister informed Mr Jong that the Punjab government would soon ink a Memorandum of Understanding with British Columbia for bilateral cooperation in the field of transportation and education.
The Chief Minister solicited Mr Jong's cooperation for the skill development programme in the State, besides the absorption of quality manpower from Punjab in the industry of British Columbia.
Mr Jong informed the Chief Minister that British Columbia was looking forward for collaboration with the universities of Punjab to upgrade the standard of education and improve the chances of employability of students from Punjab to Canada.
