BJP demands Haryana CM Hooda's resignation for Kidney racket

New Delhi, Jan 29 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party today sought the resignation of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda following unearthing of a flourishing kidney transplant racket from Gurgaon in his state.

BJP All India Secretary, incharge of Haryana, Vijay Goel in a statement said Mr Hooda should own the responsibility of the failure of the State administration and resign from chief ministership.

Besides, Mr Hooda himself had admitted that organ transplant business had been going on in some states including Haryana for quite some time.

Mr Goel said it was quite evident that the organ transplant trade could not function without the connivance of state administration and police. He demanded that officials and policemen conniving with those involved in the racket be suspended immediately, pending the inquiry.

The BJP leader said Mr Hooda cannot wash his hands off the racket as it was a total failure of the state intelligence apparatus. He wondered that now the police were saying that doctors doing such operations were not even qualified.

Mr Goel said that Health Minister Ambumani Ramadoss had talked about instituting a CBI inquiry into the kidney racket. There should be no delay by the government to order such a CBI probe as there were reports that it had international connections.

Mr Goel regretted that a lot of poor people were becoming victims of the organ trade business. He said it could only be checked with stricter legislation. Mr Goel demanded that the Centre bring in Parliament a Bill to amend the existence law on the organ transplants. Because of the weaknesses in the law, many rackets in illegal trade of organ transplant were coming to light.

Mr Goel said there was also need to probe Nithari killings thoroughly as there was a possibility that killings were being done to take out organs for sale.

Mr Goel and other BJP state leader Manchanda, led a dharna at the Jantar Mantar here to demand Mr Hooda's resignation, early CBI probe into the Gurgaon organ transplant racket and immediate arrest of all those involved in it.
