Bharat Gopi cremated state full honours
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 30 (UNI) The mortal remains of veteran film actor Bharat Gopi, who died yesterday, were consigned to flames with full State honours at the Thycaud crematorium here today.
People from all walks of life paid rich tributes to the departed soul when the body was kept at the VJT Hall in the city. Noted Actors Mohanlal and Mammootty also paid their tributes.
Armed policemen offered a reversed gun salute after firing three rounds in the air.
The 71-year-old actor died at a private hospital here following a heart attack.
A winner of the National Film Award for Best Actor in 1977 for ''Kodiyettam,'' Gopi was the recipient of several regional, national and international awards.
Born in 1937 at Chirayinkil in this district, his first movie was well-known director Adoor Gopalakrishnian's 'Swayamvaram' in 1972.
